Next to the frame, nothing has a bigger effect on the quality of your ride than wheels. From rugged trainers to featherweight racers, upgrading to a set of Bontrager wheels is a surefire way to save weight, go faster and bigger, and improve your bike's handling.

For the fine tuning only pride and a human touch can accomplish.
Pushing wheels way beyond their limits. So you can push yours.
Controlling? Of course.
We build all of our own molds, machines, and test devices. Because "good enough" usually isn't.
Grown locally. Raced globally.
Born in our back yard. Raced to podiums from Roubaix to Mont-Saint-Anne. And counting…
Resourceful. Resilient. World-renowned.
Like our legendary founder, we'll search anywhere and try anything in pursuit of a better wheel.
More than thirty years ago, Keith Bontrager took some discarded 700c road rim trash, and reworked it into a lightweight, race-ready, 26-inch mountain bike treasure. He dove into a dumpster and came out smelling like a legend (ok, a little like cabbage, but mostly legend).
That legend—and the obsession with doing it ourselves until it's right—continues today with the best-in-class Wheelworks products, hand built with pride and passion in Wisconsin, USA.
Sometimes there's simply no substitute for the repetitive precision of state-of-the-art, computerized tools and machinery: Drilling millions of spoke holes at the perfect angle, accurate to fractions of a millimeter. Lacing thousands of wheels perfectly the first time so they're true out of the box and a hundred rides later. Rigorous testing protocols with space-age equipment to ensure safety and flawless performance on every product.
Our machinery and testing equipment set the industry standard for efficiency and accuracy, so the wheels you purchase perform at their highest level today and years down the line.
That razor-sharp eye that sees what most of us never would. Hands that can detect minute flaws even in the dark. The personal pride and care that comes with having built thousands of wheels. The innate ability to adapt, react, question, correct: These are human gifts that no machine can replicate.
That's why we insist on using people to do jobs like carbon layup, truing or even decaling. The invaluable human touch—a tradition upon which our founder built his legend—is what gives our Wheelworks products that extra edge over the industry's mass-produced clones.
