A New Approach to Comfort

Research

In their quest to make comfortable bike saddles, much of our competition has focused on blood flow analysis as a measure of success. While this is a good idea, blood flow is only one of the many considerations that need to be taken into account.

About two years ago, Bontrager set out to delve into the issue deeper and truly understand the biomechanics of how riders and saddles interact. We turned a major university to help us answer the question, "Exactly what makes a saddle comfortable?" The result was the most exhaustive scientific study of saddle comfort ever.

The Study and Science of InForm

Results

During our research, we set out to better understand the science of comfort by studying the following variables:

Physical Saddle Characteristics:
The measured length, width, height, shape and compliance of the saddle
Rider Anthropometrics:
The study of human body measurements
Cycling Kinematics:
The physics and motion of the body while cycling

InForm Saddles

All of the test data collected by our study allowed us to take the first truly scientific approach to designing a comfortable saddle. Bontrager's InForm saddles feature zone density padding, multiple widths and custom curvatures to create a saddle that's designed to support your skeletal structure, not put pressure on your soft tissue.

Where to Buy InForm?

Getting InForm starts with finding the appropriate saddle size for your pelvic structure. Note that the proper saddle size doesn't necessarily correspond to the physical size of the rider, so going through the fitting process with a Bontrager authorized dealer is essential. A 220 lbs rider might need a small, while a 125 lbs rider might need a large. Contact your local Bontrager dealer today to learn more about InForm saddles and our Unconditional Comfort Guarantee.
